#HowWeHeal: Kalamazoo
Kalamazoo, Michigan is one of the places working on Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation supported by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. As in so many communities across the country, historic redlining and systemic racism has persistently led to housing crises in Kalamazoo. In 2020, organizers across multiple sectors came together to pass groundbreaking local ordinances that support fair housing– creating a pathway to housing equity for communities throughout the city and demonstrating the importance of housing equity in relation to racial healing and the reverberating impact on a community.
