“Power is in your soul. It is what your ancestors, your old people gave you,” – Winona LaDuke. What gifts did your ancestors give you?
My ancestors are from Africa, Europe and Indigenous tribal people: from what is today called Egypt, and Sudan, formerly Nubia, Kush or Kemet. HEALING!

The gifts my ancestors gave me are the courage to face the harm that some ancestors as oppressors did to my other ancestors, oppressed. They gave me the gifts of poetry, art, science, music, dance and wisdom. They gave me the power for eschewing the social constructs of “race,” and the spirit and grace to move through a world still saturated with racism and sick with its symptoms. They gave me the wisdom to manage complex cultural differences finding bridges past, present and future through personal and community transformation. The ancestors have given me gifts of ancient knowledge and prayer songs for today.
